You Are Not My Mother takes us to the week before Halloween, Char's mother Angela goes missing. When she returns her behaviour becomes increasingly strange and Char starts to think something more sinister has taken hold of her.

You Are Not My Mother was developed through the Screen Ireland POV scheme. POV is for live-action fiction titles that can be produced with a budget limit of €400,000. Six projects then went through a first-stage development process, before they were whittled down to the chosen four. One of the titles chosen was Kate Dolan's You Are Not My Mother.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness programme in Sept 2021.
